RED RIVER BRIDGE WAR SPECIAL EVENT STARTS NOW

By James - KW5CW

The date and time for the annual special event sponsored by our club called the Red River Bridge war special event starts this Saturday, July 13th, at 7:00PM or 0000 UTC. Details can be found on the special events web pages. The special call to be used is W5I. All members of the Grayson County Amateur Radio Club that wishes to use the call can do so in the comfort of their own homes for the next week. Remember that this is not a contest. All you have to do is make contacts using any mode of your choice, keep a log and send it to Lee Sly - N5SLY after the event. It's just that simple. Only use the frequencies that are allowed for your class of license. It will run until 2359 UTC on July 21. If you do plan to participate, please also attend the scheduled monthly general meeting located at Mariachi's in Sherman, next Tuesday on July 16th. There you can give your progress as to how you are active in the event. There is no scheduled activity for this event at the Perrin Air Force Base Museum as was in the past.

New General Meeting Place and Meeting Agenda for July 16, 2019

By James – KW5CW

The next general meeting for the Grayson County Amateur Radio Club will NOT be held at the Grayson County Court House. Instead, it will be held at the Mariachi’s Restaurant on July 16th, located at 1909 Texoma Pkwy, Sherman, Texas.

The meeting will start promptly at 7PM, as the restaurant closes at 9 PM. While there, you can partake in dinner at the Mexican restaurant if you like, so it may be advisable to arrive between 6 and 7 PM for food. Bring your family.

The agenda this month will also include a quick 10-minute discussion about bi-law changes, so it is important for you to attend this meeting so a quorum of members can be present so we can discuss what the special committee had discussed at their meeting in May.  Then, next month at the August meeting, we can vote on the changes to include changes needed for a quorum to vote. Results of the GCARC Field Day and present operations of the ongoing Red River Bridge War Event will also be discussed.

This month, James – KW5CW will provide a presentation called the ‘Future of CW’. The presentation has been setup as a PowerPoint presentation, and it will take about 15 minutes of time. It may take just a bit longer if no overhead projector is available at Mariachi’s.

Again, the address for the next meeting is as follows:

Mariachi’s Restaurant
